The Anima, The Body and The Space: Dialogues
“The internal body, the anima, is only affected in time-space dimension, through the physical body: The affectability of the soul by way of sensation is not merely the sign of complicity between the soul and sensation, it is also the sign of a secret dependence: the anima exists only as affected.”
– J. -F. Lyotard, Scriptures: Diffracted Traces
The Anima, The Body and The Space, Part I
The Anima I
Constantly trying to possess each other, desiring each other. Dear, how badly you have been losing. Try to remember: when was the last time you felt stronger? When was the last time you got what you wanted, when all these dirty cravings of yours got satisfied?
The Body I
You talk so much, where do you find all these words? Do you feel less hollow when surrounded by them? Words scare me. I want to live. This, I cannot do this anymore; this fighting exhausts me so that I sometimes start to forget the taste of my blood, the feeling of my flesh and the stench of my sweat at nights. Here, I surrender. Take me, if it really matters to you so much.
The Space I
That day I tried to stretch myself fully through you and further around those rigid cores of yours. So you put up walls of concrete to make me crash harder but it was all only for you anyway, so that you would feel me as you once used to.
The Anima, The Body and The Space, Part II
The Anima II
Yes, let me take care of you. I would do everything for you, truly. I can do anything for us. I love us. We are one even though I am stronger. You know that you cannot be left on your own to your flesh bursting with self-driven decay. You would crush us with your intensity. Trust me. I have been protecting you all this time.
The Body II
If you touch me I will shrink away from you. Touch me too much and I will swallow you wholly, just like that, without return. I will clasp you and crush you. It is not just me who makes bonds with decay and friends with Thanatos. You are as mad as I am. I want to be my own master even if I know I will shrivel and dry out fast like that. Forgotten how the raw sensation feels already. You would not know.
The Space II
Listening to you makes me shudder. Look at yourselves: locked up together in eternal discord, with each other’s hatred gnawing at the other’s bones. Merge, or you will stay barren forever. This vastness of sensations I could grant you if you would only understand. You could drown in bliss while embracing each other and I could rest fulfilled. I am dreaming again.
The Anima, The Body and The Space, Part III
The Anima III
I would not know? I know all that you know. I do feel. It is different from your crude needs, from your musky dreams and stale desires. It is higher, purer. You cannot fly. I can. With you begging down there on the ground.
The Body III
We are tied to this ground that you spit on so blithely. I am earth, I eat dirt, and I drink blood. I cannot fly but I can breathe.
The Space III
I am inside you and around you, I am fond of you, I pity you. It is me who has you both. You really think either of you can win. You are pathetic and you are going to die inside me anyway. Feeling me all this time.
